A remake of “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time”, which was a huge hit as a NINTENDO 64 game, [The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D].

I’ve played the 64th edition, but what has changed since the remake? Did new elements increase?

We will honestly review the good points and bad points!

This game is a game of Nintendo’s popular series “The Legend of Zelda” and is a timeless masterpiece nicknamed “Tokioka”. ..

(The first “Ocarina of Time” before the remake was released for N64 on November 21, 1998.)

[Ocarina of Time 3D] was released as 3DS software after about 13 years.
High-quality 3D graphics, improved frame rate, improved operability by dual screens, recording of the difficult “Ura Zelda” mode, etc., are contents that even those who played the first generation can fully enjoy.

The content of the story is a royal story in which the main character Link embarks on an adventurous journey as a “hero”, aiming to subdue the last boss “Ganondorf” while running through the vast world of deserts, lakes, mountains and forests.

Recommended points

Action is fun

As the genre is “action adventure”, there is no concept of leveling up, and if you have action techniques, you can advance the game crisply.

However, the action is quite difficult!
When I was in elementary school, I played the first “Ocarina of Time”, but I remember playing desperately with a strategy guide, such as “throwing a bomb while running” and “shooting an arrow looking up”.

As an adult, I played the 3DS version of the difficult “Ura Zelda” mode, but I still played while looking at the strategy information on the net.
(I don’t know at first glance that there is a target in such a place …)

It is a adult-friendly game because it has a mystery-solving element and makes your head work while moving your fingers.

A story that adults can enjoy

There are attractive characters such as the story of “Saria” and “Mid” of the Kokiri tribe who are eternal children, “Princess Luto” who boldly works hard with Jabjab’s belly, and “Darnia” who is a brother full of masculinity. A lot will come out.

The main character’s link doesn’t speak, so it makes me laugh when the story goes on even in situations where I want to dig in.

There are choices in some parts of the story, but I often chose strange choices with the expressionless links and bothered the other party.

This work is a great adventure that takes seven years, and there are scenes where the story gets a little confusing.
If you find it difficult to talk, it is recommended that you search for “Time Oka Consideration” etc. and re-examine the time series and situation in detail.

After clearing it, I looked it up and often wondered, “Is that the line at that time?” You can enjoy the deep story twice.

The world view is wonderful

If you’ve played the Nintendo Switch’s blockbuster The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you’ll know that the Zelda series The world view is outstanding.

The main characters are the long-eared “Hylans”, and there are also many other races such as the Kokiri, Goron, and Zora.

Even if the visuals of these races may seem “awesome” at first, they all have their own characteristics, and as you go through the sub-events, you’ll grow attached to them and become more and more drawn into the world of Zelda.

By the way, the monsters are also very unique.

When I was in elementary school, I was so scared of the “Dekubaba” and “Stalchula” from the early days and the “Stalbaby” from the night of the Hyrule Plains that I was so scared of them.

Most of all, the zombie-type monsters called “Ledet” scared me the most!

It’s not the ultra-realistic and beautiful graphics of today, but there are a lot of monsters that appear in just by being there you can feel the fear.

The unique, eerie, horror-tinged monster design is wonderful even now.

Personally, I liked the “four ghostly sisters” in the forest temple the best.
I remember trying my best to listen to the comments of Nabby (the elf who supports Link), even though they were damaging, because each one was different.

Unfortunately

There are few hints of the back Zelda

I don’t think you’ll get stuck in normal mode play, but the “Back Zelda” mode that comes with the 3D version has unreasonably few hints.

Especially with Master Jab Jab (the third dungeon), it’s like, “Is this worldview okay?” I was surprised to see that I could not believe my eyes…

That kind of thing is a new and interesting thing, but I think it could use a few more hints.

What about hiding the switch so much that you can’t see it… Too many candlestick buried (´Oh, too many).

Action is severe

You have to shoot arrows while riding a horse or run to light a candlestick, so If you’re not a fan of action games, this might not be the game for you.

In particular, the control of Epona (the horse) is a bit awkward, and if you hit a little wall or try to make an unreasonable maneuver, you’ll immediately go “Hihin!” and then it stops with a squeal.

It may not be the same as the action, but the “fishing event” required to obtain an item called a piece of heart (an item that increases the maximum life value) is also very difficult.

That also needed some tips, and the master often made fun of me saying, “What are you doing, Honma?” …

Aside from sub-events, actions are essential to clear the dungeon, so you need mental power to challenge many times even if you are killed.

(It may be difficult for beginners of action games, but for gamers who have played some action games, the difficulty level is set to be “just right”.)

Evaluation summary

story★★★★★ 5.0
Operability★★★☆☆ 3.8
Music / graphics★★★★☆ 4.5
volume★★★★☆ 4.8
price★★★★☆ 4.0
General comment★★★★☆ 4.5

The story is unquestionably interesting, but the 3D controls take some getting used to and tricks.
The added touch controls make the game feel more difficult to control than the N64 version.
(Many times during the course of the game, I thought, “Ahhhh, I want to pay attention to Z…”)

Nevertheless, the music and graphics are outstandingly beautiful, there are more challenging backstage Zelda modes, and the content is A very enjoyable action game.

Even those who say “I got frustrated with Zelda because of Brewai” should be able to enjoy this story-driven game until the end.

If you haven’t played it yet, please give “The World of Zelda” a try.
